As I read articles about the wildfires burning through thousands of acres in Western North Carolina, my heart aches for my beloved state. An unholy amount of anger rose up in me just thinking about the land that was now being charred and the animals and people who are losing their homes.
In the midst of that anger, I pictured a farmer burning his field to clear the land, get rid of old crops and prepare for growth of new ones. By doing so he rids the land of straw and such that isn’t conducive to the health of the land.
When I picture this is my mind, I think of the Lord. He takes us through moments where it feels like we are burning and being put through the fire in our lives and our walk with Him. He shows us areas that we think we have dealt with and processed, but whispers “I want to bring more healing.” Like the process to refine silver, it takes multiple trips into the fire to refine those areas of our lives.
I want to encourage whoever is reading this. Allow Daddy to take you into the fire—you won’t burn up and you will come through the fire. Allow Him to burn up those roots in your life that are hindering the growth of new fruit.
Don’t be afraid.
He is holding your hand.
